I think we can safely say that some days, you just don’t have the ingredient you need in your pantry, fridge or in any part of the kitchen! For us, it was because we just moved and had not a lot of stuff for food since we started a fridge from scratch. We had pork tenderloin and wanted a BBQ sauce, but too late realized that no one had gotten it at the grocery store, not thinking about it. What’s a girl gotta do? Make a BBQ sauce from scratch of course!
Here’s what to do in case you don’t have BBQ sauce: if you have a tomato paste/sauce, vinegar, spices, and sweetener like maple syrup, you can combine these elements to make your own version of BBQ! Some people add things like worcestershire sauce, and some acidic fruit but the main thing is to have a vinegar to work against the tomato acidity and voila! A BBQ sauce.
