WELCOME TO TOAST & HONEY.
Hi! My name is Fiona.
I am excited to share with you my journey to eating better, while still having the comfort foods that I love. I hope you too will be able to find excitement and joy in these recipes. Food is meant to be enjoyed and there’s nothing better than fresh ingredients and savoury or sweet flavours! My hope is that Toast & Honey will give you the means to eat the stuff you love to eat and enjoy cooking it, while taking a bit of a healthier approach. Thank you for visiting – it is my joy to teach, share and cook with you.
Food is for eating, and good food is to be enjoyed… I think food is, actually, very beautiful in itself.

I have a love-love relationship with food that came out of having to make a lot of my own foods when I was younger if there was anything I didn’t want to eat that was set on the table. This friendship was fast and immediate and I grew to quickly love experimenting with flavours. Anyone who’s met me in person knows that I love, love, love sweets and often also have cravings for salt! If I had a craving, who else was going to help me sate it? There is MUCH enjoyment in savouring delicious-ness that you cook or bake up.
These days, I take turns with my boyfriend and his family to make meals and snacks so we sometimes juggle varying tastes. Luckily, my boyfriend loves eating and cooking as much as I do (and many of the same foods)! When I am not eating or trying to make food, I do some event planning for special events and weddings. Planning food for event days really just means making snacks, so I do try to create appetizing foods you can inhale quickly while on the go. When I slow down and relax, I make comfort foods that make you smile and feel warm. There’s nothing better on grey days than curling up under a blanket and having a hot soup and fresh baked bread.
You’ll find that baked goods are often on my mind and will present themselves on this blog regularly. Flour and butter are staples that’ve I’ve grown up on — now I’m learning to swap out wheat flour for buckwheat and white rice flour, and butter for lower fat and lower salt butters.
I use my Canon Rebel T-3 camera to take photos for this blog.
